MYSTERY SONATAS/ FOR ROSA

Part of the programme of the Opéra de Lille

What’s inside a rose? Performed to Heinrich Biber’s Mystery Sonatas, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker finds a new framework for her motifs and geometries. On the music of this baroque collection that was composed to accompany the recitation of the rosary, the choreographer constructs a modern ceremony where the rose-rosette undergoes new metamorphoses during its incarnations. With six musicians and six dancers on stage, the full power of a musical text unfolds as the narrative intensity alternates with an invitation to dance.
