ELISABETH GETS HER WAY

In his solo, Jan Martens offers a danced portrait of the Polish harpsichordist Elisabeth Chojnacka (1939-2017). A virtuoso of the instrument, she succeeded in upsetting its codes and contributing to its rediscovery. Accompanied by a soundtrack of works by Nyman, Ligeti and Montague, the dancer attempts to stick as close as possible to the scores. He summons different styles of movement, just as Elisabeth’s fingers skated with ease between different registers: ELISABETH GETS HER WAY.
