Standing the test of time. Fifty years ago, David Gordon created Times Four for himself and his partner in life and on stage, Valda Setterfield. Today, in a duet with the dancer Molly Lieber, the choreographer Wally Cardona draws on the scarce archives of this iconic post-modern duo, shifting the focus from the question ‘what would they have done back then?’ to ‘what would we do now?’. In a seemingly simple four-sided stage configuration, the bodies patiently compose a shifting geometry that is revealed layer by layer. Both a living archive and an act of transmission, this new version exudes a presence of luminous maturity.
